WATCH: Is that a python under your tyre or are you just happy to see me?

Before we begin, don’t forget to watch the Channel NewsAsia video below which captures two rescue officers pulling out a snake from under a car. Gripping.

The car’s owner discovered the python, which measured 1.5 metres, at the STA Inspection Centre on Monday afternoon. “I heard that the owner of the car saw the snake’s head, and informed STA’s staff,” a Mr Ng told CNA

Folks from the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society were promptly called in — and all they needed was five minutes to catch the crawler and place it in a bag.

To diffuse the tension, one of the spectators (possibly the one taking the video), cracks a joke after the rescue officers captured the snake.

“BBQ arr,” he suggests. “No, no. These animals are protected,” the male officer replies.

The snake was to be sent to the zoo for measurements and microchipping before it is released, Acres director Anbarasi Boopal told CNA.

Release where, we have no idea. Don’t be alarmed, however. This type of snake, says Boopal, is commonly found in Singapore and feeds mainly on rats.
