Putting the ‘Art’ in ‘Heartland’ — 105 HDB blocks to transform into works of art

105 HDB blocks across the island will be getting a new splash of paint, and it won’t be adorned with the typically drab colours you always see.

Neighbourhoods will be turning into gigantic art studios in the upcoming weeks as large art canvasses will be draped over the parapets of the HDB blocks for artists to work on, and hopefully add a fresh palette of vibrant color to the heartlands, reports Channel NewsAsia

Organised by the annual PAssionArts Festival as part of the SG50 celebrations (obviously), the eight-week initiative will involve over 50,000 residents and artists working together to display 165 large-format visual arts pieces on the blocks.

The art pieces will be on display throughout the National Day period and beyond. Just don’t expect giant Turner or Klimt pieces. Maybe some unwitting Pollock.
