Train and bus services running overnight tonight for public to pay respects at Parliament House

The weekend has cometh, and the lines for those wanting to pay respects to the late Lee Kuan Yew at the Parliament House are snaking longer than ever, with a 9-hour wait as of 4pm today.

Considering the volume of people out and about in the civic district today as they pay their respects overnight, SMRT have announced that all train services will operate on a 24-hour basis today. 41 feeder bus services that provide connectivity between train stations and residential areas will also operate through the night.

The public transport operator however has confirmed that they will not be having overnight train services tomorrow as maintenance works need to be intensified in the early morning in preparation for the large load of commuters expected throughout the State Funeral Procession.

Yesterday night, SMRT only extended their public transport service hours slightly as there was low demand on the previous night, when they did carry out 24-hour services.
