Today marked the launch of the US-Singapore Trusted Traveller Programme, which will allow eligible citizens of Singapore and the US to whiz past long lines at immigration checks and head straight to automated clearance kiosks at the major traveller entry points into both countries. That means goodbye to never-ending passport control queues for Singaporeans who enrol in the US’ Global Entry Programme, which sees our country as the first ASEAN one to be given access.
Conversely, travellers from the US will also get to speed past Singapore’s checkpoints at the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s automated clearance system.
To submit an online application, head to the Global Entry Programme website. But it’s not as easy as that. Successful applicants will have to go for a face-to-face interview at the US embassy in Singapore, and pay US$100 for a membership that lasts five years.
