Update: StarHub’s service was restored at about 8pm last night.
StarHub telco subscribers late this afternoon were still experiencing one of the worst things imaginable for people stuck at home: no internet.
StarHub acknowledged the problem at around noon, citing a “fault” in its network equipment. In an afternoon update, the telco said it was still investigating the issue, which has affected fiber broadband customers in the north and northeast.
As of publication time, service had yet to be restored. In the meantime, the ISP’s advice? Turn those modems and routers off and on again.
“Fibre services to some customers in the North and North-East regions were temporarily affected this morning for about 20 minutes due to a fault in a network equipment. Backup equipment took over immediately and affected services started to resume progressively. We advise customers to reboot their modems and routers to refresh their data connection,” the first statement read.
It apologized for the inconvenience.
Several residents of areas such as Yishun replied that they were still experiencing connectivity problems several hours later.
“Is the service still down? Intermittent slow and no connection from time to time in Yishun area,” user Cecelia Neo said.
“It’s still happening! Now my mobile data is also intermittent!” a Terence Tan said.
“We are aware that some of our fibre broadband customers are facing issues with intermittent internet connectivity. We are investigating and will provide updates on this post as soon as possible,” an update at 3:45pm read.
The telco said it would continue to update customers in this Facebook post.
