Yesterday, President Halimah Yacob checked out Jewel Changi Airport, the hotly-anticipated new landmark that cost S$1.7 billion dollars to develop and is expected to house plenty of retail, dining, and entertainment concepts. Ahead of its series of public previews launching on April 11 and its official opening on April 17, Madam Halimah and an entourage of officials strolled around the lush-looking space sans crowds.
Pics were snapped of the rain vortex, which she called a “refreshing oasis” — it will be the highest indoor waterfall in the world when it debuts. The Changi Airport Group also shared with her on the expansion of Terminal 1 with Jewel replacing the open-air car park and the use of smart technology with self check-in points.
“The Jewel will be a hub for many land-side activities for all the airport terminals when it opens next week,” she said. “Glad to see Changi Airport constantly looking at improving itself to better serve the growing number of air travellers… Continue to fly high, Singapore!”
No accidental-on-purpose photos were shared of Jewel’s other features or tenants, so we’ll just have to wait till Thursday to stalk previewers on social media.
