Our office in the Keong Saik Road vicinity certainly wasn’t affected, but it seems like a massive blackout hit the central business district, leaving thousands of offices, retail stores, and restaurants without electrical power for about 34 minutes. Even the traffic lights went out.
Seems that there’s a blackout in the Raffles Place area. Power in our office at Market Street went out at around 340pm. Heard that the surrounding bldings and Lau Pa Sat are also affected. Traffic lights too. #rafflesplaceblackout #SGblackout

In a statement issued following the blackout, Singapore Power (SP) stated that 3,156 customers in parts of Raffles Quay, Robinson Road and Shenton Way were affected by a disruption to electricity supply around 2:40pm. SP officers were immediately deployed to the affected areas and managed to fully restore power within 34 minutes.
Those 34 minutes made for a slight scare for those working in high-rise office spaces — especially those who were in elevators when the power went out. The luckier ones who weren’t stranded in lifts had the opportunity to explore the stairwells and walk down dozens of floors.
Am stuck on 33rd floor, 77 Robinson in a major #powerfailure in Singapore’s #robinsonroad. Half hour and counting. Reports from others who say raffles place affected, people stuck in lift. #poweroutage #blackout

My first hand experience of eating congee in the dark lol and I got a discount because the manager felt sorry about it 😂
Someone shouted Happy Birthday the moment the lights went out and I was like… so lame….

Told the office staff to go home when I found out several buildings were affected by the blackout. A few slipped out before the power came back on. You snooze you lose.

We don’t know about you guys, but the blackout could be yet another indication of an incoming Kaiju attack — the huge crack that appeared on Adam Road this morning was the first sign.
If the the crack on adam road and cbd blackout aren’t a sign of the end times then I dunno what is #ApocalypseSG
