Popular media player Winamp to shut down permanently

Popular media player Winamp has announced on its website that it will shut down its associated web services and media players on all its platforms — Mac, Windows and Android — permanently with effect from Dec. 20.

Additionally, it thanked the online community for its loyal support over the past 15 years.

No reason has been given regarding Winamp’s decision to stop its services as of yet.

Users who wish to download the latest copy of the media player should do so before that date.
