Police Coast Guard hooks in 5 men who tried to swim into and away from Singapore

Five illegal immigrants who tried to have a swim around the borders of Singapore were netted by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) recently for attempting to enter and leave Singapore unlawfully.

In the early morning of Jan 20, PCG spotted three suspicious-looking floating objects at the sea off Senoko. Believing them to be swimmers, officers successfully intercepted the trio for the offence of unlawful entry into Singapore.

Two days later, PCG detected a swimmer at sea off Fuji Jetty. The 45-year-old man was intercepted and arrested as well for attempting to illegally enter Singapore.

The day after that, a 31-year-old man was arrested at the sea off Sungai Mandai for trying to leave Singapore illegally by swimming across the Straits of Johor to Malaysia.
