A woman was arrested for public nuisance yesterday after she stripped off her clothes in the middle of a road while arguing with a taxi driver.
The unidentified 31-year-old was arrested at about 2am on Middle Road after police told reporters they were alerted to the incident in which the woman is also seen striking the driver.
“I heard loud shouting across the street, saw a lady kicking and damaging a cab. As I walked nearer, the lady was chasing the taxi driver, scratching him, throwing fists and handbag at him as he tried his best to protect himself,” an eyewitness identified as Lawrence wrote in a caption to a video clip.
That clip was posted to the ROADS.sg Facebook page Thursday where it has been watched more than 60,000 times.
The censored 40-second video starts with the woman already shouting as she follows the taxi driver — seen wearing red – across the road and striking him from the back before taking off her black dress and pulling down her panties.
The taxi driver was recording a video of the woman as she raged at him, the video shows, and walked further away as the woman began to undress. Shouting could be heard in the background as she did so.
Another man, wearing a white top and squatting on the road since the start of the video, then walks up behind her and helps pull her panties back up. It’s not clear if he knew her personally, but he does try to stop her from further attacking the man in red by blocking her with his body until the woman gives up, turns around and holds her dress up as if trying to put it back on.
Toward the end of the clip, the scene cuts to the taxi driver laughing at the whole bizarre incident. He then pointed his phone camera to his left arm as if to capture evidence of injury left behind by the woman.
It was unclear what the woman was upset about, or whether she was intoxicated or mentally ill.
The driver’s taxi vehicle was apparently damaged by the woman in question, according to Lawrence the videographer.
“He didn’t lay any hands on her … I decided to record it, in case he needs help with evidence. I only ended up capturing this part. At least this video shows that the lady undressed herself.”
