PM Lee and his wife are finally showing their true colors, say Dr Lee Wei Ling

In the dark of night, Dr. Lee Wei Ling struck again, delivering another blow to her prime minister of a brother and his wife Ho Ching.

This was the second barrage of words dropped onto Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s head following the bombshell public denunciation made by his own siblings — an internal family conflict that went public because of a long-running disagreement about the fate of their father’s (Lee Kuan Yew) house at 38 Oxley Road. PM Lee responded in kind, talking in an older brother voice saying how his siblings’ actions have hurt their father’s legacy when they aired their disagreements.

Dr Lee — the more vocal one than her younger brother Lee Hsien Yang — shot back. “Private family matters don’t involve setting up secret committees of ministers to get your way,” she says, referring to the Ministerial Committee set up to consider what to do with the house.

According to her, the press release that was made public had edited out a main message that she wanted to put forth:

“The most important point I want to put across is if PM can misuse his official power to abuse his siblings who can fight back, what else can he do to ordinary citizens.”

She also claims that Hsien Yang (the youngest son of Lee Kuan Yew who now wants to pack his bags and leave Singapore for good), got “most of the bullying”, though its unclear if said “bullying” goes beyond the disagreement about the Oxley Road house.

Oof, that last line though. This is basically one of those big Facebook fights that’ll unfold through status updates — but only this time, it involves the country’s leader and his siblings. We’re gonna need more popcorn.
