Seeing a 16-year-old girl behaving intimately with her boyfriend at a staircase landing of a HDB block in Woodlands, a pizza deliveryman decided to pose as a policeman to bust them.
30-year-old Muhammad Firman Jumali Chew approached the couple, claiming to be a police officer and demanded they produce their identity cards on the night of Oct 9, 2013. Threatening to report their actions to their parents and school, he allegedly raped the girl in exchange for keeping quiet.
Channel NewsAsia reports that Firman has denied the rape and two other charges for sexual assault and impersonating a police officer in High Court yesterday, when the case went on trial. This despite the fact that his semen was found on the girl’s clothes and panties.
Further details declared in court also revealed that Firman’s search history on his mobile phone consisted of research into rape and fellatio on Oct 10, the day after the rape.
The prosecution is expected to call on three witnesses to testify — a witness who saw Firman walking away with the victim; the girl’s boyfriend; and a family friend of the victim, who’ll testify that the girl was “scared, distraught and sobbing”.
