Photos: George Lucas in Singapore to promote ‘Strange Magic’

George Lucas is in Singapore right now promoting his latest work Strange Magic

Media outlets live quoting the renowned director and founder of Lucasfilm say Strange Magic was inspired by Lucas’ role as a father to three girls and was made for fun.

“I’m not looking to make a hit movie,” he’s reported to have said.

The 70-year-old responsible for the conception of the Star Wars enterprise also said he’s included modern renditions of his top 25 songs in the Strange Magic soundtrack, including Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, which “sums up the movie well”.

His biggest challenge in producing Strange Magic? Combining animation with photorealism, which he reveals the Singapore team has done a “fantastic” job of.

The 99-minute animated comedy musical is set to officially release tomorrow, Jan. 23, and stars Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, Alfred Molina and Maya Rudolph.

The project is produced entirely in Singapore, partially by Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, which bills it a “madcap fairy tale musical inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream“.
