Persistent haze conditions force outdoor music concert Spring Wave Festival to cancel

Thousands of Mandopop lovers would have flocked to Fort Canning Green next week to catch acts such the hottest Taiwanese rock outfits live — but the haze had something else planned for them.

Taiwanese music festival Spring Wave 2015 has been cancelled, says organisers Friendly Dog Entertainment, in light of the worsening and persistent haze situation in Singapore.

“The health, safety and well-being of concert-goers, artistes, partners and staff, which includes the young and old, are the utmost priority of the event organiser in the decision making of an outdoor event,” they announced on the Spring Wave Singapore Facebook page.

Acts such as Wubai & China Blue, Chen-Yue Chang, Luantan Ascent and other top Taiwanese talents would have performed on Oct 10, and organisers assured ticket buyers that they’ve tried their best in sourcing for alternative venues. As they were unable to find a suitable indoor venue, the festival was outrightly cancelled in the interest of public safety.

Folks who’ve already purchased the tickets are advised to contact Sistic for refunds.

“While we recognise and appreciate all the work that has gone to the preparations in organising the festival, we knew that this decision will disappoint fans, but hope that they can appreciate the decision we have to make,” said the Founder of Friendly Dog Entertainment Kuang-Yuan Shen.
