Partial solar eclipse to be visible from Singapore in March

When the titan-unleashing period of alignment of five planets ends after February, star gazers can look forward to another major astronomical event: a partial solar eclipse.

Come March 9, the cosmic spectacle will feature nearly 90 percent of the sun being obscured by the moon during maximum eclipse, reports TODAY. The eclipse itself will be visible from anywhere in Singapore according to the Singapore Science Centre, and will begin around 7.22am. Maximum eclipse will take place at 8.23am (where the sky will be similar to evening brightness) and the eclipse will end at 9.33am.

The last solar eclipse visible from Singapore transpired on May 10, 2013 — but it was reportedly extremely difficult to view, due to the fact that the whole thing was gone after sunrise. The next solar eclipse that you can see from here will be on Dec 26, 2019 — and it’ll be an annular eclipse, where an apparent ring of light will appear to consume the sky.
