Overwhelming interest for LKY memorial exhibition prompts National Museum to extend duration

The memorial exhibition dedicated to the late Lee Kuan Yew has been drawing thousand of visitors to the National Museum since his passing two weeks ago, and they’re planning to extend visiting hours and duration of the exhibition so that many more can appreciate his many contributions to Singapore.

The exhibition — showcasing the late statesman’s personal items and chronicles his political career — has attracted more than 20,000 people ever since it opened to the public on Mar 25, according to Channel NewsAsia

Over the Easter weekend, long queues were found snaking at the National Museum where Minister for Culture, Community & Youth Lawrence Wong dropped by to thank the crowds for coming. The heightened interest for the memorial exhibition has prompted the museum to extend the exhibition to May 24, with Wong assuring citizens that plans are in place for something permanent in the National Museum to tell the story of Lee Kuan Yew and the nations founding fathers.
