An otter was found ensnared in a fish trap along the water’s edge by the Singapore Indoor Stadium, opposite Tanjong Rhu, yesterday morning. Otter enthusiast community group OtterWatch provided photos of the incident, showing an otter with its head stuck in the trap, as well as its struggle for freedom as another curious critter came over.

The group confirmed to worried netizens that the creature was finally able to make its escape and that the trap is currently being held by the Public Utilities Board (PUB). It urged the owner to get in touch with PUB to perhaps claim back the net… but for all we know, this could be a well-intentioned trap to dole out a penalty on the individual.

Whatever it is, thankfully the animal is now doing fine.
