It’s certainly looking to be a very exciting time ahead for Singapore as various opposition parties are making their rounds ahead of a general election rumored to hit Singapore this year.

We’ve already spoken about the places former presidential candidate (and now, new political party leader) Tan Cheng Bock has visited across Singapore.

Another political candidate Lim Tean, leader of the People’s Voice party, turned up at the Choa Chu Kang constituency on Saturday with his team, apparently “for a community visit and to listen to the people’s voice”, according to his Facebook post.

In a report by The Online Citizen, Lim said that he intends to send a team over to the Choa Chu Kang constituency at the next general election to contest the ruling People’s Action Party team currently holding the fort there.

He also uploaded a list of values that the People’s Voice party stands by, as a cover photo on his Facebook page.

In the photo, the party advocates for various ideals such as “free speech”, “slash ministers’ pay” and “0% GST (goods and services tax) on basic living goods”.

On Thursday, Singapore Democratic Party’s leader Chee Soon Juan announced a kick-off campaign for the upcoming General Elections on his Facebook page.

The campaign kick-off event will be held at 115 Eunos Ave 3, #02-04, on 23 February (Saturday) at 2pm.

He has since been traveling all around Singapore to sell his new book, Never on Bended Knees, which can be bought on the SDP’s e-store.

He was seen on Friday selling physical copies of the book at Raffles Place MRT in the midst of the lunchtime office crowd, and said on his Facebook page that he was going to visit Tampines on Saturday to sell the book as well.

“Spreading out to (the) four corners of this island to keep alive the message of change – that same message that so many who’ve come before us worked so hard and sacrificed so much for,” Chee said.

In a post on the party’s website, a spokesperson for the party said that Singapore citizens “are beginning to question whether the current crop of leaders are up to the challenge of taking Singapore forward”.

“(SDP has) been preparing for more than half a year for our Campaign Kick-Off and its yearlong activities,” added the statement. “Like previous elections, we will be ready for the battle. “
