‘The Online Citizen’ breaks from posting to raise funds

Socio-political website The Online Citizen (TOC), run by The Opinion Collaborative Ltd., announced Wednesday that content production will slow down starting this week to make time for fundraising.

A statement posted on the website reveals “funds are extremely low, as subscriptions have not been forthcoming and donations have dwindled”. It was also revealed that the two full-time company directors have been “living on fumes and passion” to keep the site operational.

Apart from possibly speaking to local investors — as TOC are registered with the Media Development Authority, they are effectively disallowed from roping in foreign funding — the website is also actively inviting subscriptions and donations.
