Oh Shit: Punggol BTO flat gets completely covered in excrement following sewage pipe chokage

A happy housewarming this was not. A young family was about to move into their freshly furnished Build-To-Order flat in Punggol when a literal shitstorm put an end to their short-lived joy.

According to Shin Min Daily News, cement had choked the common sewage pipe in Block 313C Sumang Link, causing a backflow of faeces, urine and other unholy fluids into the home, seeping into the hallway, living room, the children’s bedroom and even out the front door. In other words, their unit was totally covered in shit.

31-year-old house-owner Fadilah noted to the paper that their $50,000 renovation had just been completed a few months ago, but all hopes of living in a dream house were dashed with this incident.

Their reactions were completely appropriate too — upon seeing the catastrophic state of the house Fadilah’s husband was so shocked that he simply stood at the doorway in tears.

The couple and their three children had been living with their parents and were planning to move into the new flat.

The authorities have confirmed that it was renovation debris that had caused the choke, and the Pasir-Ris-Punggol Town Council will be working with the HDB to find the culprit.

The family plans to claim compensation from the town council after they redo the whole house.

This incident is of course all to similar to the rash of poop-related incidents that have smeared the names of BTO flats in Singapore, such as the time when a faulty sewer pipe spilled shit and other stuff at Compassvale and another broken sewage pipe unleashed all hell upon a void deck in Yishun.
