​OCBC Singapore to spend $5m in SG50 gifts for staff, while everyone else gets nothing

To celebrate SG50, the bank announced on Monday that it will give about 8,000 of its Singaporean employees a “comprehensive” gift, worth $5 million, Channel NewsAsia reports.

“Our employees have played a big role in OCBC’s success and the country’s success – and we must also not forget their families, who have provided them with unwavering support,” said OCBC Bank Group CEO Samuel Tsien.

OCBC Bank on Monday (Jul 27) announced it will be give about 8,000 of its Singaporean employees a “comprehensive” SG50 Gift, worth S$5 million.

Such gifts include a OCBC SG50 NETS FlashPay card with S$100 in preloaded credit, and four complimentary tickets to Gardens by the Bay. Staff will also be able to pay a subsidised rate of $5 per ticket to Universal Studios Singapore, limited to four per person, the bank said.

To encourage share ownership, about 3,000 of its junior executives and unionised employees in Singapore will each receive 100 OCBC shares, the bank said in a news release.
