NUS student dies after falling into Southeast Asia’s highest tiered waterfalls

A National University of Singapore (NUS) student was found dead in a lake at the foot of Mount Stong in Kelantan, Malaysia on Dec. 28. 

According to TODAY, 23-year-old Lee Jun Jie had been enjoying the sunset from a spot on the mountain during a school expedition when he slipped and fell into the waterfalls below. 

At the time, the group was believed to be near Baha’s Camp, situated at the top of the Stong waterfalls, Southeasia’s highest tiered waterfalls with seven levels. 

Lee’s body was found about two hours after the fall, and was taken to Kuala Krai Hospital for a post-mortem.
