The National University of Singapore (NUS) continues to set the standard for technologically-enhanced learning with the dedicated Audiology SMART classroom, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
Funded by medical technology provider Siemens, the classroom allows students of the NUS Master of Science in Audiology degree course to communicate with doctors and nurses in hospital via video teleconferencing.
NUS is also setting up a clinical training space at the National University Hospital’s (NUH) new Centre for Hearing, Speech and Balance (CHSB) so that students can get hands-on practice immediately after graduation, and aims to have high definition video feeds from the SMART classroom to CHSB so students can get instant access to the centre located more than a kilometre away.
Via the SMART classroom, students will also be able to “attend” lectures and patient consultations conducted overseas.
