Ever since word got out that Goodwood Park Hotel bakery’s famous durian puffs have been causing less than savoury effects, more have stepped out to claim that they too were hit by food poisoning.
Right now, the count stands at a total of 183 food poisoning cases that can be linked to the consumption of the bakery’s durian pastries. This would be more than twice the initial number of 76 cases originally reported by the National Environment Agency (NEA), Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore.
Since the initial announcement made last month, the hotel’s bakery has ceased all operations, including the production sale and distribution of all pastries prepared by them. The suspension will continue until the lapses have been properly identified and rectified.
“Goodwood Park Hotel has had a good reputation for the past 33 years selling durian pastries, and we understand this suspension may cause some distress to our guests,” the hotel said last month. “We hope that they will give us a chance to restore their confidence in our usual high standards of quality of our pastries.”
