This image of an NTUC Fairprice pack of “fresh pork” bearing the halal certification mark is circulating on Facebook again, six years after it was created.
NTUC Fairprice had called it out as a hoax in 2007, saying the original packaging had been tampered with in a “wilful act of mischief”, and had lodged a police report.
Fairprice CEO Seah Kian Peng continues to assure the public that the original packaging of the Pasar Fresh Pork product doesn not carry the halal sticket from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) and urges anyone with queries to contact the FairPrice customer hotline at 6552-2272 or email general.feedback@fairprice.com.sg.
