NSP drama: Executive member Fazli Talip resigns but party still wants to dip in MacPherson SMC

The dramatic ongoings of the National Solidarity Party just keep rolling as yet another one of their executive members bites the dust.

Just a day after party member Steve Chia withdrew from contesting in the General Election (due to overwhelming internet hate), fellow Central Executive Committee member Mohamed Fazli Talip announced his resignation yesterday. And the General Election hasn’t even started yet.

His doubts about NSP loomed considerably when the party doggedly decided to contest in MacPherson, even after they stated that they would leave the Single Member Constituency fight to the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) and the Workers’ Party (WP).

“We want to have opposition unity, and that is why we held the opposition meeting. But to come from a party that advocates opposition unity, we decided to go into a three-corner fight. That made me feel a bit disappointed,” TODAY reported Fazli to say.

Despite his departure — as well as a string of other decamping by other members of the party — the NSP reportedly remains adamant about contesting in MacPherson, putting them head to head against the PAP and WP. What they don’t realise is that they’ve already lost the fight even before the battle started.
