Now you can finally Netflix and chill in Singapore — but no House of Cards or Arrested Development

Throw away those VPN subscriptions folks, the world’s fastest growing internet TV phenomenon Netflix has finally arrived in Singapore, bringing binge-watching and #NetflixAndChill to the local masses.

The video streaming website with over 125-million hours of video content is now available literally everywhere in the globe, and Singapore is among the 130 new countries mentioned in CEO Reed Hastings’ presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas on Wednesday.

“With this launch, consumers around the world — from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo — will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously — no more waiting,” said Hastings. “With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”

Subscription prices remain the same as the price you’d pay in the US — S$10.98 for an entry level package with a standard definition quality stream. $13.98 a month lets you have high-def streaming as well as the ability to view on two screens simultaneously. The top-notch subscription of $16.98 a month lets you stream in 4K and four simultaneous screenings.

The question however remains — should you still stick to your VPN, considering how some content have been shaved off Singapore’s curated selection? Surprisingly, the Media Development Authority has allowed pretty risqué content such as Narcos (because drugs), Orange is the new Black (because LGBTQ) and Hot Girls Wanted (because amateur porn) to be screened.

Unfortunately, the likes of Netflix must-watch House of Cards and a whole slew of recent shows, movies and comedy specials didn’t make the cut for licensing here, so that’s a bummer. That means no Arrested Development, no Breaking Bad, no Parks and Rec. Adam Sandlers low-brow, badly reviewed film The Ridiculous 6 made it though, if you’re into torturing yourself.

In any case, keep the VPN going if you want a whole lot more content, but Singapore’s curated list of Netflix content should already allow you to watch some of the best that they have on offer.

Add these must-watch shows to your list to kick off your #NetflixandChill sessions:

– Jessica Jones
– Daredevil
– Orange is the new Black
– Making a Murderer
– Master of None
– Beasts of no Nation
– Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
– Peaky Blinders
– Narcos
– Better Call Saul
– Wet Hot American Summer
– Black Mirror

Happy binge-watching!
