Still haven’t paid a visit to the luminous beaches of Maldives? Well, there’s now a really cool place where you can bring your significant other for a romantic stroll. A test stretch of the Rail Corridor, the 24km-long stretch of former railway that was closed in 2011, is now open to the public.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, it features a 400m-long “test track” located behind Bukit Panjang MRT station by Choa Chu Kang Road. Four different types of surfaces each take up a 100m section of the track — grass and gravel, fine gravel, earth-coloured porous concrete and natural non-toxic light green strontium aluminate minerals that absorb ultraviolet light in the day to allow the track to give out a soft glow once the sun sets, reported The Straits Times.

If you haven’t heard, luminous pathways already exist in countries such as Poland and The Netherlands, so we’re pretty psyched to see it here in Singapore.

For the time being, the “test track” will go through trials to find the best and safest surface material. Members of the public are encouraged to give feedback, and government agencies will assess the durability of the materials.

If you don’t believe the photos, head over check it out for yourself.
