A new project by The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) invites the public to choose the designs and locations where benches made out of recycled planks from the old National Stadium will be installed.
From now till March 31, you get to choose from a total of 24 unique designs and locations each and cast your vote when you visit the Pick a bench, Pick a place website. Up to four benches each will be installed at the 15 most popular public spaces.
Five of the designs were winners of last year’s bench project competition — where the public submitted designs for benches using the seating planks from the former National Stadium to commemorate the historic landmark — while the rest were specially created by commissioned local designers.
The locations are selected based on the suitability of the space and the need for additional seating. These locations are generally easily accessible, have the potential to be more vibrant and well-utilised by the community.
Pick a bench, Pick a place is one of the many projects planned under the PubliCity initiative, aimed at creating new public spaces and rejuvenating existing ones.
