Finally, our hazy days might just be over. The Ministry of Health (MOH) agrees — they’ll be ceasing their Haze Subsidy Scheme next Monday.
The scheme was re-launched in September as soon as the first signs of haze started to persist as a means to help reduce medical costs for all haze-related conditions. Children, the elderly and lower-income groups of Singaporeans were able to access affordable treatment for their asthma, conjunctivitis and other ailments triggered by poor air conditions.
According to MOH, around 50,000 claims have been made under the scheme at various clinics and polyclinics.
The National Environment Agency recently announced that they’ll be discontinuing daily haze advisories as well — air quality in Singapore has significantly improved over the past two weeks.
