Even in the world’s best airport (since 2009), accidents can and will happen. One just took place early this morning when a Scoot aircraft made contact with an Emirates plane as the former was taxiing before take-off.
The on-ground accident occurred between the Dubai-bound Emirates EK405 and the Tianjin-bound Scoot TZ188.
According to the budget carrier’s statement to CNBC, the left wing of the Scoot plane made contact with the Emirates aircraft — and from pictures taken, the damage looks pretty bad. Bad enough to have the passengers aboard the Emirates plane have their flights re-booked and scheduled to depart later today.
Changi Airport confirmed that none of the passengers and crew members on board both planes were injured. The Scoot flight was similarly rescheduled to depart to Tianjin at 6am this morning on a replacement aircraft.
Investigations are ongoing regarding the cause of the incident.
