The police in charge of handling one of Singapore’s shadier neighborhoods had to take matters into their own amateur hands when their designer went AWOL.
Singapore was in a fit of laughter today after Yishun North Neighbourhood Police Centre posted a graphic warning citizens not to share their security codes made with good-old-fashioned Microsoft Paint.
“Our graphic designer is away this week. So we had to improvise because the show must go on. We need to reiterate the importance of not sharing your bank details with anyone!” it wrote yesterday.
“Do not share your OTP!!” the image read, referring to “one-time passwords.”
Despite or perhaps because of its crudeness, the simple black and white drawing’s crooked, hand-drawn message won some hearts.
“Straight to the point. No bullshit mountain of colours and unnecessary images. An accurate representation of my current mood and the law – black and white. 10/10!” Nicole Tan Yu Xin wrote.
“I am more amazed that u guys used the brush instead of the text,” Nurrul Arfan wrote today, to which the centre replied with: “Why didn’t we think of that.”
The police center regularly puts out infographics on its socials warning the public of issues – usually online scams.
The Yishun neighborhood, known colloquially as the “Florida of Singapore,” is plagued by frequent cat killings, murders, and drug busts.
