The Traffic Police were glad to report that fatal traffic accidents and deaths fell for the fourth consecutive year in their latest annual road traffic report — and they’re still adamant on reducing them even further for the upcoming year ahead.
As such, they’re evolving their tech toys to help identify speeding vehicles more efficiently. Motorists’ most beloved frenemy — the ever alert speed camera — is getting an upgrade: they’re going mobile.

The Mobile Speed Camera (MSC) can be deployed anywhere swiftly within a week, and runs on its own power source, eliminating the need for infrastructure preparations on site. With round-the-clock capabilities including coloured images, detection range of 32 vehicles across a five-lane span, and a faster processing time, speeding motorists are definitely getting caught.
According to the Traffic Police, the MSC will be deployed at locations found with high volumes of speed-related violations or speed-related accidents — especially illegal racing hotspots. With a quick set-up time and small footprint, the device can be operational anywhere at any time too.
Their annual report also revealed reductions in drink driving accidents and arrests, along with decreases in red-light running accidents and violations. Accidents involving elderly pedestrians however increased, with 26.5 percent of them occurring when them seniors were jaywalking.
