National Solidarity Party (NSP) member Nicole Seah demanded an apology from two news outlets belonging to the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) on Nov. 26 for publishing an inaccurate headline that made it seem as though she’d been dating a married man.
The man in question, Steven Goh, is actually divorced.
The two publications, the AsiaOne website and Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, have since changed the headline and published an apology.
On AsiaOne, editor Adrian Tay said, “AsiaOne would like to unreservedly apologise to Miss Nicole Seah and Mr Steven Goh for any distress and inconvenience caused”.

Lianhe Wanbao was more specific in their apology. According to Yahoo Singapore, it reads, “…we mentioned [in the story] that Seah was seeing a married man named Steven Goh. In the article, we also stated that the status of this man’s marriage is not clear. However, we later found out this man is already divorced. Because we did not clearly state this man’s marital status in the article, we wish to apologise to both parties for the inconvenience caused.”
