The man who fell to his death from a height of several stories at Orchard Road’s Ngee Ann City mall on Sunday afternoon was an American citizen.

A US embassy spokesman confirmed the man’s nationality this afternoon via email, adding that it was providing consular assistance to the family but would have no further comment out of respect for their privacy.

The man has been identified as Aman Demoz Solomon, who worked for real estate agency CBRE as a global investors employee, the company confirmed via email.

“We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family, and out of respect for their privacy, we have no further comments,” CBRE said in a statement.

The man plunged from the third to the Basement 2 level of the popular shopping mall on Sunday, landing next to games and toy retail kiosk ActionCity Plus, which still had customers in it.

Photos of the scene showed blood on the floor and the area cordoned off by police.

Eyewitnesses told local media that blood was oozing out of the man’s head and that he appeared to be alone before his death.

The man was also wearing a wedding ring, an eyewitness told Today.
