Woodlands South MRT station—part of the new Thomson Line that’s expected to improve accessibility and travel time throughout the island—is scheduled for completion in 2019.
The Land Transport Authority announced today that it was awarding the $144 million dollar contract for Woodlands South MRT (see location map below) to Woh Hup (Private) Limited, the same civil engineering company involved in the construction of stations like Bras Basah, Dhoby Ghaut and Holland Village on the Circle Line.

The Woodlands South MRT station is expected to enhance connectivity for residents in the Woodlands South area, while the Thomson Line (due to complete in totality by 2021) should eventually reduce MRT traffic congestion and traveling time by half. The 30km Thomson Line (see map below) comprises 22 stations, including six interchange stations: Caldecott, Marina Bay, Orchard, Outram Park, Stevens and Woodlands.
