Lazarus Island is known for its quiet and pristine beaches, and soon, as a holiday destination?
The idyllic island, just a quick ferry ride from Singapore. will soon be transformed into an eco-tourist destination with the introduction of ‘tiny houses’ for accommodation on the island.
The project. called Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island. will see five tiny accommodations added to the island. The 150 to 170 sq ft units will come with queen-sized beds, fully equipped kitchens, air-conditioning and even a hot water shower.
The bigger 170 sq ft unit will have an additional sofa bed for extra guests and floor-to-ceiling windows that give you a clear 180-degree view of the water. On top of that, two out of five of the units will be pet friendly.
Green features include solar panels and a composter that turns food waste into compost within 24 hours.
Each unit is fitted and decorated in a different style so that visitors can choose their vibe from industrial to British Colonial (lol).
Bookings for a stay will be open to the public from May onwards. One night will set you back approximately S$178.
The houses are operated by Big Tiny, an Australian-based company co-founded by a Singaporean.
As of yesterday, more than 600 people have registered their interest to secure a stay on the island.
Lazarus Island will also see more upgrades like new amenities and attractions including a convenience store, overnight glamping experiences and non-motorised water activities launched in phases starting in June.
