Yesterday, the Straits Times reported that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) is developing a new, more high-tech version of their police patrol car.

The new design is expected to project a more futuristic and formidable image of the force, and may consist of these eight features:

–    1. Auto licence plate number recognition that can track even moving vehicles

–    2. Collision avoidance system

–    3. GPS navigation

–    4. Exterior mounted lights

–    5. In-vehicle video system that can record in four directions

–    6. Infra-red transmitter to control traffic lights

–    7. Night vision thermal imager

8. Shatter-resistant windscreens

According to tender documents, the new police patrol car will probably have an engine capacity of two to three litres.
