Economy-class travellers no longer have to look on enviously as business- and first-class travellers retreat to airport lounges exclusive to them, as a new lounge that can be used by all travellers was officially opened in Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 on Tuesday.
With this new “oasis”, the “so-called cattle class doesn’t have to suffer anymore”, Mr Song Hoi-see told The Straits Times. The 58-year-old Malaysian is chief executive of Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited, which owns this new lounge. The company was the first to offer independent airport lounges when it opened its first lounge in Hong Kong in 1998.
Located in the Departure Transit Hall, this 7,000 sq ft lounge features charging, Wi-Fi and shower facilities. Travellers can also pamper themselves with spa, massage and nail care services, while those in need of some privacy can use the private VIP rooms or private resting suites to get a power nap.
You won’t believe this, but the lounge even has live cooking stations where travellers can watch their food being prepared for them.
Starting at $58 for five hours, there’s no better way to recuperate, relax and rejuvenate after that long flight.
