New gallery at Gillman Barracks grooms Singaporean art collectors

Yeo Workshop, Gillman Barracks’ newest gallery that opened last weekend, will operate the Arnoldii Arts Club for less experienced Singaporean art collectors.

The “arts school”, whose name is inspired by the unusual Rafflesia Arnoldii flower found only in Southeast Asia, will kick off its first series of classes on September 18. The six-week long series will expose new art collectors to art history, production and the market, topics which will be taught by lauded experts including British curator and former agent for Banksy, Stephen Lazarides.

All this promise doesn’t come cheap—committing to the entire series will set you back $6,500, but you can attend individual drop-in classes at $170 each.

Said owner Audrey Yeo to The Wall Street Journal, “In London there are groups like Young Tate Patrons, but I was quite surprised that there wasn’t something similar in Singapore.”
