Bikers who utilise the lots at Housing Development Board (HDB) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Electronic Parking System (EPS) car parks will be able to save on parking expenditure when new motorcycle parking rates are introduced in the second half of this year.
Instead of paying a flat fee of 65 cents per entry, the new EPS car parks — which will be progressively introduced in the next few years — will charge bikers on a per-minute basis.
Currently, only cars are charged on a per-minute basis at the EPS car parks, which also allow for a 10-minute grace period before charging.
The government says the revised rates will be especially helpful to those who are required to use multiple car parks on a daily basis, like despatch riders.
