Amidst all the potentially depressing news about Grab monopolizing the private-hire industry in Singapore (and Southeast Asia), here’s a little scene of humanity’s goodness to brighten up your day.
On Saturday night, an accident occurred around 11pm at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4. According to Channel NewsAsia, the police confirmed that a 30-year-old motorcyclist and a 25-year-old pillion rider were injured in the collision with a car.
But it was the aftermath that got netizens talking. A Facebook user by the name of Justina Tyn noted that she was at home when she heard a “loud crash”. Peering out the window, she spotted two casualties lying on the road. Thankfully, passers-by were helpful, and a female jogger ran over to tend to the victims while another individual called the ambulance.
However, it was something else that drew her attention. Tyn explained that the construction workers from the nearby site quickly rushed over with their traffic cones, light sticks, and stop/go sign, and immediately went to work making sure traffic was smooth and those on the road were safe.
Minutes later, the ambulance arrived and took the casualties to the hospital.
Of the short but sweet incident, Tyn said “they don’t have to do it but they did it anyway.”
“They can either sacrifice their rest or ignore and take a break after a long hard day at work,” she added. “But they chose the latter.”
