Boat Quay cat cafe Neko No Niwa held a mini-bazaar yesterday to help fund the efforts to support the 94 cats and kittens rescued from a backyard breeder’s flat, and it looks like it was a rousing success — nearly $13,000 has been raised.
The proceeds came from the many distributors, retailers, vendors and individuals who took part in the fund-raising event — all of which would be used to offset the costs for the cats’ medical and boarding fees. The cats were are well on the path to recovery, according to the kind folks behind the Saving The Siameses campaign. After all, the felines are in a way better state now after being rescued from a two-room flat in Fernvale, where they had been cooped up in unsanitary, overcrowded conditions.
According to volunteers, many of the traumatized kitties have even started to open up to humans, and are slowly getting back on their furry feet with the help of catnip, toys, and of course, loads of chin scratches:
