NDP ticket sellers to be banned from all future ballots

Following reports that National Day Parade (NDP) tickets were being sold online (at ridiculous prices), event organisers announced on Tuesday that unauthorised sellers or distributors of NDP tickets will be barred from balloting in the future, reports Channel NewsAsia.

Tickets to catch the NDP are free, but can only be obtained through a ballot. The ballot receives an overwhelming response every year as many Singaporeans are eager to be a part of the NDP (and are suckers for freebies), so “monetising the privilege to be a part of the nation’s birthday goes against the celebratory spirit of the event”, said Brigadier General Melvyn Ong, NDP 2015 EXCO Chairman. BG Ong also added that the NDP EXCO is currently working with all online sale sites to prevent the hawking of NDP tickets.

The sale of tickets, including indirectly by packaging them with other items, are prohibited, and previously those caught selling NDP tickets were banned from the ballot for three years. Taking a slice of the birthday cake and smashing it in the faces of those without a piece is sure to ban you from future parties.
