Less than a week after Fandi Ahmad is officially announced head coach of LionsXII, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has revealed that Fandi’s former team-mate Nazri Nasir will be joining him.
The 42-year-old LionsXii assistant head coach said he was very happy and described working with Fandi as a coach as “a dream”.
“I am grateful and I want to show my heartfelt gratitude to FAS for giving me this opportunity. I’m still learning and want to give back to FAS what it has given me over the years,” he added.
This isn’t Nazri’s first stint as a coach under the FAS, but he says coaching the LionsXII team will have to be handled differently from that of the National Football Academy Under-15s.
“I want players to be serious in training, but I also hope there would be no barriers between coaches and players so that off the pitch, we are friends,” he explained. Nazri also said he wanted the team to be able to talk to him about themselves and their families, not just football.
