The National Stadium will not be re-opened until June this year, as completion of the Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang suffers a delay due to engineering safety precautions and last December’s unexpected rainfall level.
The venues within the Singapore Sports Hub that will be ready by April are the Indoor Stadium, the OCBC Arena, as well as the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
SportsHub CEO Philippe Colin Delavaud told TODAY that these facilities will be launched progressively to allow the team to test the systems and ramp up operations at a controlled pace, given the scale and complexity of the project.
The opening schedule and calendar of events of the new Singapore Sports Hub will be revealed on Feb. 27. The earliest event scheduled to happen at the venue is the 2nd Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in June.
