Post-SG50, how will Singapore ever top their birthday celebrations? By bringing the whole party back to the National Stadium of course, after a 10-year absence.
Come Aug 9 next year, the National Day Parade will be returning home to the National Stadium, at the newly established Singapore Sports Hub.
“Sports Hub is a place where dreams come true; we saw the magic shine through when we proudly hosted the 28th SEA Games and the 8th ASEAN Para Games,” said Sports Hub Pte Ltd CEO Manu Sawhney. “This spark will be reignited with 55,000 people watching the National Day Parade.”
Various reports pointed out that the Ministry of Defence and the Sports Hub were butting heads over the high costs of having the gala at the newfangled stadium.
The Sports Hub has also been the centre of multiple controversies since its opening, including leaky roofs, an inferior pitch, and just being hella expensive to host events there.
“We are excited, and can’t wait for the nation’s biggest celebration, after the jubilee year to take place at the iconic Singapore Sports Hub,” added Sawhney.
