A woman who became an online sensation for her role in a murder at Orchard Towers last year was sentenced today to five months in jail for assault.

Natalie Siow, 24, had originally been charged with murder along with six others before that was reduced to assault for kicking and punching victim Satheesh Noel Gobidass on the ground floor of Orchard Towers, allowing her to escape the death penalty. Only one suspect, Tan Sen Yang, faces a murder charge.

The group allegedly attacked Satheesh on the morning of July 2, and his body was later found in a pool of blood at the main entrance of the Orchard Road building famed for sleazy bars and clubs. Surveillance footage that circulated online showed the group in a scuffle with Satheesh before fleeing the scene.

Siow was the sole woman accused in the incident. After her identity was revealed, she amassed a fanbase of mostly besotted men who had called for her to be released. Her reduced charge also stirred debate over whether she was getting off easy.
