A distressed mother went public about an incident that took place yesterday, in which her young toddler underwent some rough handling and intimidation by a fully grown adult at Northpoint City’s Sunshine Childhood Playland in Yishun.

Attaching a CCTV clip to a post on Facebook, she accused an “overprotective dad” of physically assaulting her five-year-old son, who seemed to be trying to play with the man’s children and their toys. “Overprotective” sounds like a fair label if you watch the footage below, as the dad can be seen blocking the hyperactive boy from even coming close to his two kids. When the five-year-old continued to pester and play near the other younger children, the man can be seen shoving and kicking the child, tossing around toys in an attempt to scare him away.

The mother of the boy can be spotted intervening at the tail end of the video.

“(My son) is naive & defenceless,” wrote the mum. “From the video, the dad kicked, pushed, rough handle a 5 years old boy. Is this how a parent should treat other children?”

The shocked mother alleged that the man denied touching her son, but it seems like CCTV footage proves otherwise.

She has since taken down the CCTV footage from her Facebook page due to “unnecessary inconvenience” to the management of Sunshine Childhood Playland, but assured that she did lodge a police report on the incident.

Though the man was in the wrong for roughing up the five-year-old, some netizens believed that part of the blame should fall on the boy’s mother for not keeping a close watch on her son.

Then again, people will always have opinions on how you should/should not raise your children.
