When was the last time you paid only $2.50 for your nasi padang?
A plate of the good stuff — white rice heaped with chicken gravy, sauteed vegetables and a fried potato ball, say — will set you back at least $6 in today’s economy, or at least that’s what majority of the comments on his post are saying.
But someone paid less than half for his lunch and that someone is Member of Parliament representing the Tampines GRC, the selfie party himself Mr. Baey Yam Keng.
And boy are people made at him for it.
Netizens have been pouncing on the guy since he posted a picture of his $2.50 nasi padang on Facebook Dec. 11, when he was having lunch at a coffeeshop in where else, but Tampines.
It seems he has since edited the status on Facebook, removing the price of the food, and visited the stall again on Sunday, Dec. 15. He should’ve known it would be a bad idea, but he announced how much he paid for that too, which is a grand total of $3.70.
